New features added to this version of Mobilyze are designed to enhance the overall Mobilyze user experience and increase the capabilities of Mobilyze to analyze the latest iOS and Android devices. Some of the improvements include:
- Support for Apple iOS 10.3 with encrypted backups
- Support for Android 7.1.1 Nougat
- Support for iOS 10 third party applications, such as Kik and WhatsApp
- Improved report generator
Collection and Analysis of Android Nougat
Google’s new Android 7.0 Nougat was released late in 2016 and is now being shipped with several new Android-based phones. Mobilyze 2017 R1 will acquire and process data from Android phones running Android 7.1.1.

We maintain an Android resource page and regularly update it with the latest troubleshooting tips for Android devices, and assistance in locating those hard to find Android-based drivers.
Support for iOS Devices Running iOS 10.3 with Encrypted Backups
Mobilyze will now acquire and parse data from iOS devices that are set to encrypt backups when iOS 10.3 is installed. Providing that the password for the encrypted backup is entered when Mobilyze prompts for it.
Remember that an iTunes encrypted backup password can be different than the mobile device password. An encrypted backup password can be set when the device is connected to iTunes.

Once the encrypted backup password is entered, Mobilyze will acquire the device and parse the data as it has always done.
The Mobilyze Advantage
In a matter of minutes, investigators can sift through a device’s data, locate and tag items of interest, and determine whether a more comprehensive analysis should be pursued. If so, cases can be imported into BlackLight without having to perform another collection. Mobilyze displays data in self-explanatory categories (e.g., communications, media, locations, etc.), and it features keyword searching, parsing of geolocation metadata, and filtering by keyword and/or custom timeframe.
