Acquire certification demonstrating your proficiency with BlackLight. The Certified BlackLight Examiner is awarded to investigators completing the Basic Forensic Investigations course and successfully passing a written examination. The written assessment validates the examiner’s knowledge in the use of BlackLight for digital forensic investigations.
The certification is free to all Basic Forensic Investigation students. There is a $150 fee to registering and qualifying examiners and a $75 fee for renewals.
Students will proceed to take the written exam based on the requirements detailed above. Students will have 1.5 hours to complete the examination and must pass with a 70% score or higher. If the student does not pass the examination, they must wait 30 days to re-sit the examination. If the student does not pass the examination on the second attempt, they must wait an additional 30 days and register again for the CBE examination through the website. If the student qualifies to take the CBE assessment through completion of the Basic Forensic Investigations course, the exam must be completed within 90 days of the completion of the course. If the student registers for the examination after providing validation of their required experience, the exam must be completed within 90 days of the enrollment of the student to take the examination.
After completion of the Basic Forensic Investigations course examiners must successfully demonstrate their proficiency in BlackLight through a written examination. Alternatively, students with 1 year experience using BlackLight may submit an application to firstname.lastname@example.org providing information validating their experience and request to proceed with the examination.
Upon successful completion of the examination, Certified BlackLight Examiners will be awarded a digital copy of the CBE certificate and rights to use the CBE logo as defined in the CBE Logo Usage section. Certifications are valid for 3 years. Certified BlackLight Examiners will need to renew their certification. This will require renewal registration through our website and a successful re-take of the current CBE examination. CBE examiners will have a 6-month grace period from the expiration of their certification after which the student will have to re-apply for the CBE process. Certification integrity is taken seriously. Cheating or any false information submitted as validation for requirements to sit the examination will not be tolerated and may result in being banned from certification testing with BlackBag Technologies.
